Wood Lane News is a traditional Newsagent, Convenience Store and Off-Licence on one of the main routes in and out of Rothwell. The owner, Andy Hopkinson took over the business in May 2011 and is assisted by his stepson, Ryan Ash.
Andy was born & bred in Carlton & Rothwell and Ryan is originally from Methley so they know the area and many of our customers very well. Andy says "I actually began working at the shop as a paperboy back in the 1970's and am distantly related to Mr George Lewis who owned the shop before that! My Grandmother's family, the Bulmers all owned shops in Rothwell at one time or another and her sister and her husband kept an off-licence at the bottom of Butcher Lane, so you could say it's in the blood".
The fully-licenced shop offers an excellent selections of Wines from York Wines as well as Beers, Cider and Spirits. We have daily deliveries of freshly baked Breadcakes, Scufflers and Scones from the Cottage Bakery at Oulton and also supply quality Meats and Pies from Hofmann's of Wakefield. We also offer a dry-Cleaning service at excellent rates. We also stock a range of household products, pet foods and medecines as well as the usual convenience lines.
Our Newsround is one of the largest in the area and as well as Rothwell, we also deliver newspapers and Magazines to Carlton, Robin Hood, Lofthouse, Outwood, Stanley, Methley and Great Preston. We also delivery groceries free of charge if the customer is unable to get to the shop.
